variousing

Nice one. I'll let him know straight away. Re filming Shane's do: I intend to bring only my bass etc. and md player, upon which I do loops and can play things I've made, as you will, am supposing, on your laptop. Given that, and as an aid to shutting the fuck up whilst you all make the din(!), I thought I'd affect some hand-held scenes from the event; and, whilst playing myself, put the thing happily on its tripod. The result, at the camera stage, will be fairly straight stuff, I think. Given the dimensions of Shane's room, though, it'll be a bit The Cure Close To Me style. I have designs from there to do treatments of this footage, in something like the same way that I do with the jpegs on my blog. Thing is, that's a way off for me; as I'm not up to scratch with the technology at present. I'd be happy for you, and everyone else, to take a copy and alter at will, of course. Be great if something of that could be used as part of the Club Sporadic backdrop. I do think the idea of projecting an actual gig, ideally involving the same people, as you did with the last Liquidiser, is very interesting. That could be more than a lightweight, comic device, to my mind. I like the screen effect - in a Baudrillardian sense, if you know the reference. Old-fashioned Postmodernism! I've had similar ideas for a series of screens, kind of laminated objects/ideas/theories, each shallow, dilatant-like, which I call 'Inchscapes'. Short answer to your question, though, is I am open to any ideas you may have. Anything specific in mind? ----- Original Message -----From: Paul To: Anthony Donovan Sent: Sunday, February 05, 2006 7:46 PM Subject: Re: Club Sporadic 25th March yep. that's fine to let rod know. all we need is a screen or screen-type surface.no worries about filming shane's stuff. what do you intend to do with it?paulOn Sunday, February 5, 2006, at 07:25 PM, Anthony Donovan wrote:
Nice one PaulThat all sounds good. So I'll just tell Rod the white background they know they can provide is fine and we'll have everything else needed for the visuals. That correct? Plus, ok with me filming Shane's do? Be good if someone else did so, too! Best wishes,Anthony----- Original Message -----From: Paul To: Anthony Donovan Cc: *

He's been endeavouring to secure necessary equipment for us to include a visual element to our improv - ie. some kind of film. He can promise a screen of some kind; but projector etc. is reliant upon unreliable source. It struck me that, in the discussion about Shane's session, we haven't really discussed Club Sporadic. Not particularly necessary to talk about musical issues, as they will be ironed-out - or at least be made glaringly obvious! - during Shane's show. But, what is the feasibility of including some kind of filmic, visual element? I believe Paul's the man to ask, of course! So this bit of the email is aimed at you, I suppose! I'll help in any way, but I'm unfamiliar with the technology involved, on the one hand, and do not possess anything useful in this way, on the other. I do have a camcorder, though, and have a vague notion of making a few films at some point! Content-wise, I am easy - and would personally be happy to leave it to Paul, Paul and James - if involved, or whatever. Just a matter of whether you want to Paul, and can. My thinking is present something already prepared; given your busyness. Just let me know, so I can let Rod know. I intend to film the Shane session as part of my 'performance'. You all ok with that?
