This reminds me of one of those photographs of apparitions where something like ectoplasm appears. I find this really frightening. It's like a spirit or presence has possessed this person and perhaps it has taken over. If it were a real photograph, when it was taken...the presence wasn't there. I love things like this. I wonder if you could do this (a la 'Jam' style) and take someone's photograph in all innocence and then do something like this to it and then show them and really freak them out. You could say something like, 'You have the ugly spirit.' Is that a bit malicious of me? Oh dear.
And look...who is the third that walks beside him?
It gives me the same feeling. Ambiguity is a fun and productive area for visuals, in my opinion. I'll never get sick of surrealism; especially when played for laughs.
