As far as I know, never seen that film. Maybe this film-still is from that? I just Googled it - in some unreflexive screen-deep postmodern idle fashion! As you do! Keyword was 'nun'! I love the picture. Happily, I got more than I bargained for.

I was taught at school by a nun, at about the age of 9 - Sister Mary Jude. She was probably in her early 20s. I think I actually loved her, too. She came to visit me in Whiston Hospital when I was in there having my appendix out. I remember she kissed me. That was a weird time. I was rushed in there, emergency; from the Doctor's; he just telling mum, tummy upset. My operation got infected. I got a girlfriend in there; wrote to her for ages afterward.

I'm get misty-eyed again...!

That is such a lovely story. Anthony also got an infected appendix after going in for the op. How strange!

I like the idea of you being in love with the nun. I don't think this still is from 'BN' but it might be. I don't recall that moment. Anthony will probably correct me.

It's not from 'Black Narcissus' (a very great film, that) but it does look mighty familiar ... it's going to bug me now, because I think I should know it.

Oh yes, Lewisham Hospital and their botched op ... I was left semi-delirious for 12 hours before they could be bothered to operate and then due to shoddy care allowed to develop septicemia that damned near killed me.

Nivce to meet an appendix friend. Hospitals are awful places, I think; that's what's great about your medical peice, Molly. Great setting.

I have this memory - appendix time; aged 9; hospital bed; curtains pulled round; five staff; me held down; operation cut open again; no needle; just told to be quiet, upsetting others; infection removed. My scar has an oval-shaped north-end, as physical proof. Caring profession. I went out with a nurse for 12 years. I know different.

Oh god, the cutting open of the operation site, no anesthetic, Rose having to hold a bowl while a couple of pints of green goo oozed out of the cut.
