more about monkeys

Can I digress? Josh - I know the Waters song. I seem to remember some allusion to the opening, 'Manwatcher', scenes of 2001. Fabulous - the slightly more cleverer monkey, Manwatcher, hurling that bone into the air; spinning, it becomes the spaceship. A metaphor! or, as we say in our house - in hommage to Chris Morris - a met-arthur. Yeh - that bone-tool precursor to spaceship-tool, the biggest leap being not from one tool to the other but in comprehending the notion of tools in the first place. Feels a bit Heidegger to me. Kubrick's statement on consciousness. But then, we are supposed to ring our hands at 2001's supposedly hippie-meaningless/obscure text. Gosh, can I say I understood that much about it when I first saw it at the age of 10, without sounding like a clever monkey? I'm reminded here of the ridiculous way Scott Walker has been treated: as an obscurist, when he is actually - to my mind - an astute and very human commentator. The media must die. They are the problem.

I've just kind of done of a monkey remix of all of the comments because they were so good. Wonderful words Anthony. I hope you don't mind that I worked them into the remix, you still retain all copyright of course! Great, lyrical comments. You are just brilliant.
