Michael G. of Liverpool

There's something quite 'Kewpie doll' about this. I think the smile grates with the image. Her smile is innocent and full of joy and yet...you get the underlying feeling that she's hating every moment of it. Although...the smile is sickly sweet. And...again...there is the conflict between happiness, lust, losing yourself and gaining yourself through power. I think...to cover yourself..like that...is both suggestive and also protective.

She also reminds me a bit of 'Maria' from 'Metropolis' - the utopian hope that comes to save the workers from misery...but just ends up by creating another dystopia. Her head is almost made of metal.
