Anthony Donovan is an artist, musician, composer, improviser and writer based in England. He works solo, either as Murmurists or under his own name, and is associated with projects such as Destroyevsky, Ou_pi Golgotha.undead, Spidey Agutter and the.clinamen. An ardent collaborator, he has worked with the likes of John Zorn, Jochen Arbeit, Geoff Leigh, PAS, Steve Beresford and Damo Suzuki. Donovan co-curates the respected labels Classwar Karaoke and suRRism-Phonoethics with Jaan Patterson. His interests are all either obscure or opaque, but morally authentic.

You know what they say about people with schizophrenia...they walk with their hands very close to their sides. This person has his hands by his sides in a way that is so lifeless it is worrying. To give someone so lifeless a cowboy hat gives him a sense of frolicfun. Perhaps he has just escaped from the asylum. Good on him for breaking out and doing some exciting redhat stuff.
But..looking at it again...it looks like a £1.50 plastic hat from a fancy dress hire shop. So...he couldn't quite do it properly...so that makes him even more subversive and fun. And he looks a bit like Tony Blair. You should re-post him with a pigface next...and the hat.
Yes, again it's the oddity of the original image. The guy in the image was - let's say - bigging himself up; but, I agree, his stance says something else; something contrasting. Whether he is schitzoid of just awkward, I'm not sure one can tell for sure; and, in a way, because it is unknowable it isn't and cannot be what one is primarily interested in. Maybe? He has a kind of swagger, I think; and, intuitively - and not too seriously, it has to be said - I plonked the cowboy hat on his big daft head. The plonking, though, took lots of attempts! The plasticity of the hat was intentional; and, I think, it's ever-so-slightly too small; which adds to the disjuncture, for me. Also, the colour is inappropriate. My main interest - for myself that is - is in the notion of ALT DISNEY. I can see me reusing that - probably too much, too!
